McConnell Reservists play in Checkered Flag
An F-22 Raptor, assigned to the 90th Fighter Squadron, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Ala., approaches the boom of a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 128th Air Refueling Wing, Wisconsin Air National Guard, during Checkered Flag 21-1, Nov. 2, 2020. Nineteen members of the 931st Air Refueling Wing, the Reserve component at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas, participated in Checkered Flag, a large-scale aerial exercise hosted by the 325th Fighter Wing at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. The exercise began Nov. 2, and ended Nov. 11.

A KC-135 Stratotanker, tail number #58-0124, lands after flying for the last time as part of routine training during the 931st Air Refueling Wing Unit Training Assembly June 6, 2020, at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. The KC-135 was first flown by the 931 ARW for the refueling of the “Spirit of Kansas,” a B-2 Bomber, 25 years ago this week. While here, the students learned about the missions of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, 931st Air Refueling Wing and 184th Intelligence Wing. The students also viewed a KC-135 Stratotanker Periodic Inspection performed by the 931st Maintenance Group at Hangar 10.
