More documentation needed for CAC, other cards Published Aug. 20, 2008 MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- A new Department of Defense mandate requires two forms of identification to be presented before common access cards and other types of identification cards can be issued. Effective Sept. 25, 2008, computer software will block creation of new cards until two forms of acceptable identification are scanned into its system (the 931st Air Refueling Group's identification card section is scheduled to close on Sept. 19 to allow for related updates to its computer system). At least one form of identification must have a photograph (see Group A in the list below). Those seeking to renew their cards may use their old cards to fulfill the picture ID (Group A) requirement. The new mandate applies to all Defense personnel, including dependents age 18 and older, and military retirees. Acceptable forms of identification are: Group A (picture ID) · Military dependent ID · Valid documentation from Immigration and Naturalization Service office with photo · Driver's license or ID card issued by federal, state or local government agencies or entities (including photo) · U.S. Passport · U.S. Coast Guard, Merchant Mariner card · School ID with photo · Sponsor DOD ID card · Immigration naturalization Service card Group B (non-picture ID) · Certificate of citizenship or naturalization · Foreign passport · Voter registration card · U.S. Social Security card · Certification of Birth Abroad · Unexpired refugee travel document · Original or certified copy of a birth certificate · Native American tribal document · Daycare or nursery school record · Clinic, doctor or hospital record · School record or report card · Canadian Driver's License · Foreign National ID/w photo
