Members of the 18th Air Refueling Squadron formed an all-female KC-135 Stratotanker aircrew this week. During the flight, the crew refueled five F-16 Fighting Falcons. The F-16s were piloted by students from the 54th Fighter Group from Holloman AFB, and also included one female student pilot. Check out this video from the Total Force Formation Flight. The 931st Air Refueling Wing and the 22nd Air Refueling Wing conducted their first Total Force formation flight with the KC-46A. Col. Mark Baran, 22 ARW vice commander, piloted another aircraft in the formation. The KC-46A will eventually replace the U.S. Air Force's aging fleet of KC-135 Stratotankers which have been the backbone of the refueling fleet for more than 50 years. The KC-46A will provide more refueling capability, an increased capacity for cargo, and modern aeromedical evacuation capabilities. The KC-46A is expected to provide aerial refueling to Air Force, joint and partner nation aircraft. The 931st Air Refueling Wing took part in the Kansas National Guard's annual Military Appreciation Day at the Kansas Statehouse in Topeka, March 21. Governor Laura Kelly met with military leaders from Fort Riley, Fort Leavenworth, McConnell Air Force Base, and the Kansas National Guard, and signed two proclamations in recognition of Armed Forces Appreciation Day and Vietnam War Veterans Day.
