Over the course of two days, Col. Mark S. Larson, commander of the Air Force Reserve 931st Air Refueling Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., conducted visits with five Kansas federal legislators. Larson was participating in the Commander's Capitol Hill Visit Program, a program through which commanders of Air Force units visit with congressional members to discuss issues affecting Airmen as well as their units.

Topping the discussions with the Kansas legislators was the topic of McConnell's selection as the preferred alternative for the KC-46A main operating base 1 and the potential effects the new mission set will have on the 931st in terms of manning and infrastructure. Larson also discussed budget issues and the challenges the Group is facing with sequestration and mandatory furloughs.

"These visits with our congressional members were a tremendous opportunity to share with them the outstanding accomplishments of our Citizen Airmen as well as discuss some of the challenges we are currently facing," said Larson.  "I look forward to continuing to work with our legislators to keep them informed about the 931st Air Refueling Group."
