The 931st Maintenance Squadron bid farewell to its founding commander, Lt. Col. Sherry Teague, and welcomed Maj. John Schloss as its new commander during a change of command ceremony here, April 6.

Teague took command of the unit 17 days after its activation in October 2009 and oversaw its growth from its infancy as a 16-personnel unit to 68 maintainers in more than three years at the helm.

"She was given the charge to build a unit, make it work and make it right," said Lt. Col. Christopher Labrum, the 931st Air Refueling Group's Deputy Commander for Maintenance. "Sherry Teague stepped in with a vision and made that happen."

Teague noted that she will remember her time as the squadron's first commander with joyful memories.

"One of the best choices I made was accepting [former DCM, Lt. Col.] Jeffrey Picard's offer to be squadron commander," said Teague. "Thanks for the incredible journey and memories of a lifetime."

After receiving the flag marking the ceremonial transfer of command, Schloss told his new charges that they are already running the race and accomplishing so much for the Air Force.

Schloss advised them that whenever they face adversity they should keep their heads up and keep moving.

"Continue," he said. "And keep putting one foot in front of the other."
