With the Nov. 6 general election just over a month away, 931st Air Refueling Group Voting Assistance Officer, Lt. Col. Lawrence Lee, is working to ensure all members of the Group are informed and aware of the services available to them in order to allow them to practice their right to vote.

For the last few months, Lee has been sharing information with the Group, to include spouses, voting age dependents, as well as overseas voters.

"It's very important that our military members are aware of the voting assistance services that are available to them, whether they are at home or away on deployment," said Lee. "That's what voting assistance is all about; making sure that our members have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote, no matter where they may be."

Lee specifically recommends that voters request an absentee ballot through the Federal Voting Assistance Program website, www.FVAP.gov. This site allows voters to utilize online registration and absentee ballot assistance.

Additionally, Lee said the Military Postal Service Agency provides free expedited ballot delivery and tracking to local election offices for military members and their families who may be stationed overseas.

According to the FVAP website, in order to use this service, the member needs to go to a local post office or postal clerk and use the Label 11--DOD form on the absentee ballot envelope. They member can then go to www.usps.com to track the status of their ballot.
