931st Commander's Independence Day Message

As our nation celebrates its 236th birthday, we are again reminded of the ideals that gave birth to this grand experiment called the United States more than two centuries ago. The founding fathers of America framed this country based on the principles of freedom, equality, and those "unalienable rights" of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Much has changed in America since the summer of 1776. Our nation has seen times of magnificent triumph as well as those of great tragedy. The United States has grown and evolved, and we've experienced the growing pains that come with being a young nation. Yet through it all, those principles put forth by the founding fathers have served as the foundation for what America is, and will continue to be: A nation of individuals, united for the cause of freedom.

As you celebrate this Fourth of July holiday, please know that as your commander, it is an honor to serve with such a dedicated collection of Airmen. Your commitment to excellence and devotion to duty are truly in keeping with the example set forth by the original patriots who founded and fought for our country so many years ago. My sincere gratitude goes out to the members of the 931st for your ongoing service to our nation.

Please enjoy this Independence Day holiday, and please remember to do so safely. If you will be traveling, have a plan and take proper precautions on the roadways. If you plan to celebrate with fireworks, please do so responsibly. Take advantage of this opportunity to spend some extra time with your family and friends, and do so in a safe manner.

Whatever your plans may be, I wish you a very happy Independence Day and thank you, once again, for all that you do.
