931st Commander issues Critical Days of Summer message Published May 22, 2012 By Col. William H. Mason 931st Air Refueling Group Commander MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- Fellow 931st Airmen, As we all start to think about and make plans for vacations or just how to relax in the coming months, please keep in mind that the "Critical Days of Summer" is the time frame when the Air Force experiences our greatest number of mishaps. As you make your plans always keep safety in mind. Of note, AFRC accounted for 4 of 18 Air Force fatalities during this period last year. All of us should strive to avoid any mishaps, our goal is to achieve zero mishaps; however doing so requires a personal commitment to safety from you. In the end, we'll all stay on target by using sound decision-making and fostering a good wingman culture. Plan your activities and make sure that someone knows where you will be and what your schedule is. Please make safety a personal priority this summer, and keep an eye on your family and friends. As always, I understand and appreciate the sacrifices you and your families make in support of the 931st, the Air Force Reserve and our nation. Have a wonderful and safe summer.
