931st, AFRC recruiting on track despite holiday season Published Dec. 21, 2011 By Brannen Parrish 931st Air Refueling Group Public Affairs MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- The first quarter of any fiscal year can be challenging for recruiters. A number of factors can distract potential accessions and even recruiters, not the least of which is the holiday season. "Traditionally, the first quarter is a slow time of year and because of the holidays, it can be difficult to maintain the focus of recruiters and the pool of people going through the accessions process," said Senior Master Sgt. Roy Blanchard, assistant senior recruiter for the 931st Air Refueling Group, McConnell AFB, Kan., and the 507th Air Refueling Wing, Tinker AFB, Okla. Despite the winter doldrums, Air Force Reserve recruiters are maintaining their focus and signing up future Airmen. Air Force Reserve Command's recruiters met their goal of 1,292 new accessions for November. Blanchard said the cold weather hasn't cooled the efforts of the recruiters here. Since the start of fiscal year 2012, his team has provided 76 accessions. "Everybody here is on track to make their mission," he said.
