Spouses of 931st Air Refueling Group Airmen had the rare opportunity to witness an air refueling mission aboard a KC-135 Stratotanker flown by two of the group's aircrews, Dec. 3.

The orientation flight provided spouses with insight into the unit's operations and the Stratotanker's versatility.

Col. William H. Mason, Commander, 931st ARG, welcomed the spouses and thanked them for being supportive of their partners' willingness to serve.  Col. Mason asked those present to take advantage of the group's Key Spouses program.

"I encourage you to get involved as best you can," Mason said.

According to Bethany Prevedelli, wife of Staff Sgt. Charles Prevedelli, a maintainer with the 931st Maintenance Squadron, the flight gave her a better understanding of her husband's work.

"Just having an opportunity to have them talk to us about what they do was helpful," said Prevedelli. "Now, I know exactly what goes on on the flights."

Spouses were able to climb down into the boom pod and watch as the operators refueled another KC-135.

"To see another airplane less than 50 feet away was pretty cool," said Prevedelli.
