Thanksgiving message from 931st commander Published Nov. 22, 2011 By Col. William H. Mason 931st Air Refueling Group Commander MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- For most Americans, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season. The Thanksgiving holiday offers us an opportunity to pause and reflect on our many blessings. Topping that list for each of us is the fact we have the good fortune to live in the United States as a free people. We have the honor and great privilege of serving and protecting this nation. I am thankful to serve with such a devoted and talented collection of individuals here at the 931st Air Refueling Group. Your dedication to duty and your allegiance to your country display the virtues that make us such a vital part of our nation's defense and demonstrate the best of what our country has to offer. It is truly an honor to serve with each of you. We are also blessed with an outstanding network of families. Our spouses, children and loved ones continuously make extraordinary sacrifices to allow us to serve. I thank them for that undying commitment and support. It is that family support and sacrifice that serves as the key to unlock the door to mission accomplishment. As you gather with family and friends this week to enjoy food and fellowship, take stock of the things you have in your life for which you are thankful. Remember our brave brothers and sisters deployed far from home during the holiday season and keep them in your thoughts. Please keep safety paramount throughout the holidays. Make sound decisions and be cautious as you travel. Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and the time with your loved ones. And thank you, once again, for all you do to serve.
