931st Commander issues safety guidance for Labor Day Published Aug. 30, 2011 By Brannen Parrish 931st ARG Public Affairs MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, KS -- The 931st Air Refueling Group Commander is encouraging the unit's civilian and military employees to reflect on their holiday plans and consider the safety risks of their activities. In a memorandum to the group, Col. William H. Mason, 931st ARG Commander, urged commanders and supervisors to take time to talk safety. "Many of us will decompress by camping, barbecuing, boating, travelling or just spending time with friends and family," Colonel Mason wrote. "The 931st family has accomplished a tremendous job keeping the focus on safety, both on and off duty. Now is the time to maintain that focus as statistics show complacency tends to set in towards the end of a busy summer." Some of the activities Colonel Mason specifically asked supervisors and commanders to discuss include motorcycle, water sports, alcohol use, barbequing, driving and heat related injuries. "Make smart choices this Labor Day weekend," said Colonel Mason. "Don't accept unnecessary risks."
