Name: Daniel P. Blondell, Sr.

Rank: Staff Sergeant

Unit: 931st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron

Joined the Air Force: November 2007

Joined the 931st: January 2008

Hometown: Silverton, OR

Military Job: Communication, Navigation, and Mission Systems Craftsman

Civilian Job: Sedgwick County Detention Facility. As a Detention Deputy my civilian job requires me to watch over individuals who have been arrested and incarcerated. Typically, these individuals are either awaiting trail, participating in a trial or have been sentenced to spend short amount of time in the facility. In addition I am required to: Monitor inmate behavior for changes, search inmates and their property for contraband, supervise movement throughout the facility, maintain good order and discipline, answer inmate questions, perform frequent rounds and head counts, keep and submit true and accurate logs and reports, monitor jail visitors and answer their questions, and maintain prisoner paperwork.

Movie Genre: I don't have a preference. A good movie is a good movie. A good horror film can be just as good as a good romance.

Books: Fiction or Nonfiction? I enjoy novels like Tom Clancy wrote; technically detailed espionage, military science, and techno thrillers that captivate your attention, stimulate your senses, and give your imagination a workout

Transportation, Motorcycle, Car, Truck, SUV? A truck without question. I enjoy outdoor activities like camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing. A truck enables me to haul my family and our gear where we need to go.

Favorite Sport: None in particular, I enjoy them all.

Sport I like least: Soccer

Favorite Team: Oregon Ducks by default

Team I like least: Raiders, They are overrated.

If I won or inherited a large sum of money I would set my wife and I up for retirement; fund my children's education; then donate the rest to charity. A large sum of money can be a blessing or a curse. A windfall like a lottery could certainly make a man's life easier or curse him with notoriety and spoil his family for the world. I would keep only what I require and put the rest to good work.

I am most proud of being called Marine. Earning the title has been my proudest personal accomplishment. I am also quite proud of my beautiful wife and three children. They are what keep me going when times get tough and make life living not just existing.

The area of my life, personality that makes me most unique is that I never let circumstances tell me I can't do something once I set is as a personal goal.

One area of my life I most want to improve is I want to continue my education working toward a Masters Degree in Social Science and Family Counseling.

Heroes: Oliver North and Lt. Gen. William B. "Chesty" Puller
