Leaders from the 931st Maintenance Squadron learned that the bowels of the underworld carry no fury like Airmen armed with pie, Dec. 5.

After participating in a bidding war to identify which leaders would receive a whipped cream plastering, and which Airmen would deliver the dessert justice, the accused were subjected to punishment by pie firing squad.

The bidding war raised $617 for the Human Resource Development Council's Angel Tree program to support Airmen and their families who need assistance for the holidays.

"Normally we used the pie in the face contest to bolster unit funds for going away ceremonies and retirements, but this year we recognized an immediate need and used it to help those who needed it for the holidays," said Lt. Col. Jeffrey Pickard, Deputy Commander for Maintenance. "We try to make the event as fun as possible."

Airmen bid on which individuals would receive whipped cream facials. The individual who received the highest bid and the three individuals who received the lowest minimum bids ended up on the firing line.

Colonel Pickard attempted a last-minute reprieve but his petition fell upon deaf ears. Members would not be swayed and his calls for a pardon were ignored. One Airman in the crowd responded, "Enjoy your pie, Sir."
