Team McConnell Reception for families Published Sept. 23, 2010 MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- All active duty, military Retirees, Guard, Department of Defense Civilians, Reservists and their families are invited to watch the practice demonstration for 2010 McConnell Air Force Base Open House/Air Show and enjoy an afternoon of food and entertainment. The aerial demonstration practice will begin at noon. Viewers are encouraged to stop by the Storm Cellar Sports Bar and the Back Patio areas from 2-4 p.m. to watch the practice show and enjoy free snacks courtesy of Freddy's Frozen Custard, Larkspur Bistro & Bar and Buffalo Wild Wings-Derby Marketplace. At 3 p.m., the U.S. Air Force's aerial demonstration team, the Thunderbirds, will take to the Kansas skies. Spectators are encouraged to bring folding chairs for seating. At 4 p.m., activities shift to the Dole Community Center Ballroom, which will be decorated by Balloon Studio, help celebrate the Open House weekend. Participants will enjoy free food courtesy of Cake Ball Divas, Best Western & Solo's Diner, Two Brothers BBQ, Arby's, Papa John's Pizza, and Truffles. The Boeing Jazz Band and the Wichita Broadway Singers will provide entertainment. The Thunderbird team will be available at 6:15 p.m. to meet and greet. The reception is being sponsored by Boeing. The company will also sponsor the Kids' Zone at the Open House as well.
