Chief boom to retire

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- Chief Master Sgt. Don Askren, a charter member of the 931st Air Refueling Group, is approaching his last day as a United States Airmen.
A retirement ceremony for the chief is scheduled for Oct. 17, the Saturday of the 931st ARG's monthly training assembly.

He and his wife, Senior Master Sgt. Tamara Askren, were two of the first Airmen to join the 931st when it stood up at McConnell AFB in 1995. Chief Askren is the chief boom operator for the 18th Air Refueling Squadron, the flying unit of the 931st ARG. Sergeant Askren is the program analyst for the 931st Civil Engineer Squadron.
