Large group of Airmen join 931st, more growth expected

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. --  There's a lot of new faces in the 931st Air Refueling Group. Members of the growing unit welcomed 19 new Airmen to the 931st family in September, a few months after a group of 20 Airmen were welcomed during an earlier unit training assembly.

Orientation classes for new Airmen haven't been so large since the Group stood up at McConnell AFB is in the mid-1990's.

It's a sign of things to come, says the 931st's commander, Col. Edsel "Archie" Frye Jr., who is encouraging all Group members to look for people who can help the 931st mission. A large number of new positions, to include full-time air reserve technician jobs, have been created at the 931st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, but more Airmen are also needed throughout the Group's other units to support recent and future growth.

Some immediate openings at the 931st are listed on the home page of the Group's web site, along with a link to of an Air Force Reserve recruiting site that shows a more complete list of openings specific to the 931st. Group members are also encouraged to enter their referrals into the Get One Now program web site.

Get One awards were completely revamped in the past year and range from satellite radios to laptop computers. One of the awards for a Reservist who has just one referral turn into an accession, for example, is an iPod Nano.

The names and phone numbers of the 931st ARG's recruiters are also listed on the home page of the Group's web site.
