After $2.1 million in renovations, services at the McConnell Chapel will be available on Sunday during the August Unit Training Assembly.

The renovations, which began four months ago and concluded last week, include a variety of technological and standard-of-living improvements made in both the workshop and worship areas.

According to Staff Sgt. Byron Edwards, 22nd Air Refueling Wing Chapel program support NCO in charge, the chapel now includes two 90-inch TVs, wireless microphones and hearing devices, audio and video systems.  The chapel also received an upgraded ventilation system, ceiling tiles and carpet during the renovation.

"These improvements to the chapel are more user friendly to the parishioners," said Chaplain (Capt.) Paul Mount, 931st Air Refueling Group chaplain.  "The televisions [in the chapel] will allow the worshipers to view music and scripture, as well as any video clips that are relevant to the sermon."

The use of the screens will also be beneficial to the hearing impaired, who will also benefit from the new wireless system they can wear or hook up to their hearing aid.

Mount, who typically preaches Sundays of the UTA during the Protestant Service at 11 a.m., believes all these improvements will continue to aid the chapel's mission to help strengthen Reservists spiritually and emotionally.
