Col. Mark S. Larson, commander of the Air Force Reserve 931st Air Refueling Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., conducted visits with four Kansas on June 16. Larson was participating in the Commander's Capitol Hill Visit Program, a program through which commanders of Air Force units visit with congressional members to discuss issues affecting Airmen as well as their units.

Discussions with the legislatures included news of McConnell's progress as the preferred alternative for the KC-46A Pegasus main operating base 1, the current construction of several KC-46A maintenance facilities and how the requirements this new mission will have on the 931st in terms of manning and infrastructure.

Larson also discussed budget issues and the challenges Reservists face regarding budgets and the unit's frequent deployments.  To date, more than 150 Airmen from the 931 ARG have been deployed in 2015.

While visiting with each congressional member, Larson took the time to thank each of them for their support, and reinstated how they have been instrumental in increasing the unit's presence.

"These visits with our congressional members provided a dialogue to praise our Citizen Airmen's efforts, especially in the face of increasing deployments, as well as discuss some of the challenges we are currently facing," said Larson.  "I look forward to continuing to work with our legislators to keep them informed about the growth and progress of the 931st Air Refueling Group."
