Thanksgiving traditionally marks the beginning of the holiday season and is a uniquely American tradition which affords us a moment to pause and reflect on all we have to be grateful for.  As citizens of the United States we can all be thankful for the rights and freedoms we enjoy.  As members of our nation's military we have the privilege of defending those freedoms for a grateful citizenry who constantly demonstrate their support for us and our families.

I want you to know how thankful I am to be a member of the 931st Air Refueling Group and what an honor and privilege it is for me to serve beside each of you.  Your commitment and devotion to duty is what makes this unit special, and your effort was recognized with this year's Raincross Trophy win.

Please take this opportunity to thank your families.  They provide unwavering support without which we could not accomplish our mission.  Their sacrifice cannot be taken for granted; without them we cannot achieve success.  They have seen us through countless deployments and exercises and are always there to welcome us home with open arms.

This year on Thanksgiving, as you gather with family and friends, please remember to take a moment to reflect on those who have served before us and have made their own sacrifices so we can continue to enjoy the freedoms we have today.  Remember our brothers and sisters who are deployed during this holiday season and keep them in your thoughts.  Reach out to their family members during this time and support them as they endure a holiday season without the presence of their loved ones.

Lastly, be safe during this Thanksgiving holiday.  If you are traveling, plan ahead and make safe, sound decisions.  Look out for one another; be good wingmen.  Enjoy the holiday to its fullest, and do so safely.

Thank you for all you continue to do day in and day out.  I wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
