Airmen of the 931st Air Refueling Group,

This Friday, we will celebrate the 238th anniversary of the birth of our great nation.  It is a time for us to gather with family and friends, to enjoy cookouts, fireworks and of course, a day off from work.

However, as we celebrate, let us not forget that these 238 years of freedom and democracy have not come without tremendous cost.  Throughout our nation's still-short history, thousands upon thousands have heroically made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure we are able to enjoy the freedoms we do today.  Thousands more have served and continue to serve in locations around the world to ensure the protection of our country and our way of life.

As we share in the joy of our nation's birthday, let us not forget those who have worn the uniform before us, those who have given their all, as well as our brothers and sisters who are currently fighting and serving on our behalf today.

Thank you for what you do each day to continue to preserve this great nation.  Your own service and sacrifice as a Citizen Airman harkens back to the militias of the American Revolution that first gave birth to the United States, and continues to be a cornerstone of our nation's defense.

I urge each of you to enjoy the Fourth of July holiday to its fullest.  Relax and enjoy spending time with your families.  Please be a good wingman and make sound decisions in all you do.  And, as always, thank you for your service as a member of the 931st Air Refueling Group.
