I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you and to wish you all a safe and happy holiday season. Several recent incidents involving members and former members of our unit have highlighted the importance of family and friends in my life.

I hope you have occasion this holiday season to spend time with those who are close to you, and that you avail yourself of the opportunity to express gratitude for them. For those of you who are deployed, thank you for your sacrifice and want you to know you are in our thoughts we wish you could be here.

The New Year holiday provides us with an opportunity to look back at the obstacles we have overcome, the setbacks that have hindered our progress and the accomplishments we have celebrated.

The men and women of the 931st Air Refueling Group and McConnell Air Force Base accomplished a great deal this year. Our base was selected to represent Air Mobility Command for the Commander In Chief's Installation Excellence Award and the way Total Force Integration is practiced here was a significant contributing factor in our selection.

The installation was also named the preferred main operating base for the new KC-46A. Once again, TFI was a major factor in that selection. In 2013, just as in years prior, the McConnell community demonstrated that we are capable and proficient in executing TFI.

I appreciate all of your hard work, and I am proud of all you have accomplished. Thank you for your service and dedication. Most of all, thank you for making this unit and this community a success.

Nearly 86 million people will be travelling by automobile during the end-of year holiday. If you are among those travelling, please take care to make wise choices and return home safely.

Happy Holidays.

Col. Larson
