Cold Crew

Tech. Sgt. Billy Martin puts his back to an 11-degree wind chill while getting a KC-135 Stratotanker ready for takeoff at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., early in the morning on Jan. 10. Sergeant Martin is a maintenance crew chief assigned to the 931st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, an Air Force Reserve unit at McConnell. The tanker he helped prepared was flown by a 931st flight crew in support of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, the 931st's active-duty host unit at McConnell. More than 25 of the 22nd's newest Airmen flew along to learn more about aerial refueling, the primary mission at McConnell. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jason Schaap)
