Cold Crew

Staff Sgt. Jorge Figueroa puts his back to an 11-degree wind chill while getting a KC-135 Stratotanker ready for takeoff at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., early in the morning on Jan. 10. Sergeant Figueroa is a maintenance crew chief assigned to the 931st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, an Air Force Reserve unit at McConnell. The tanker he and fellow 931st crew chief Tech. Sgt. Billy Martin (on left) prepared was flown by a 931st flight crew in support of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, the 931st's active-duty host unit at McConnell. More than 25 of the 22nd's newest Airmen flew along to learn more about aerial refueling, the primary mission at McConnell. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jason Schaap)
