  • McConnell Reservists strengthen Resilience

    Airmen of the 931st Air Refueling Wing, the Reserve component at McConnell, paused normal duty operations to strengthen their resiliency Sept. 8, 2019, at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. According to the Air Force Resiliency website, for the last five years, suicide has been the leading cause of death among Airmen. As a result of this, Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Dave L. Goldfein ordered all wings to stand down for a day to focus on Airmen’s resiliency and suicide prevention.
  • AMC Leadership visits, awards McConnell

    This week, Gen. Maryanne Miller, Air Mobility Command commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Terrence Greene, AMC command chief, visited the refueling installation to meet the Airmen of team McConnell, and also to present the 349 th Air Refueling Squadron with the 2018 Gen. Spaatz Trophy and the 2018 SMSgt Albert Evans Outstanding Air Refueling Section Award.
  • Turnage Turns Bike into Bucks for servicemembers

    A 931st Air Refueling Wing Citizen Airman raised $578 in charity for injured servicemembers by biking from Carefree, Az., to San Diego from May 1 – 4, 2019. Senior Airman Jeff Turnage, 931st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, participated in three fundraisers during the past 3 years for Mission2Alpha — formerly Operation Hero Project — that include this year’s 4-day 400-mile bike ride, a 129-mile ride through Death Valley, and an eight-person 250 mile relay triathlon raising approximately $3,700 in total.
