Retired B-1B arrives in Wichita to create a digital twin
Drivers navigate a B-1B Lancer around obstructions en route to Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research as part of a research partnership in Wichita, Kansas, Jan. 27, 2024. B-1s are not unfamiliar to longtime local residents, although this type of low-level approach is a rarity. The Kansas Air National Guard’s current 184th Wing operated B-1s from McConnell Air Force Base when it was the 184th Bomb Group, starting in July 1994. The 184th Bomb Group became the 184th Bomb Wing in 1995 and flew the B-1s until June 2001. (Courtesy Photo)
