The 80th FS is one of two fighter squadrons assigned to the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea. The squadron was activated during World War II as the 80th Pursuit Squadron. A U.S. Air Force KC-46A Pegasus with the 931st Air Refueling Wing refuels a U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon with the 80th Fighter Squadron as they fly over the Republic of Korea, Oct. 23, 2020. At full operational capability, the KC-46A will be able to refuel most fixed-wing, receiver-capable aircraft. The KC-46A is equipped with a refueling boom driven by a fly-by-wire control system, and is capable of fuel offload rates required for large aircraft. Team McConnell takes the KC-46 on its first extended mission
Members of Team McConnell fly a KC-46A Pegasus above another KC-46 during an extended mission in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region on Oct. 23, 2020. This was the first time the KC-46 had flown an extended a self-sustained mission into the region. McConnell’s very own Keeper
Miniature Keeper of the Plains are displayed throughout the city of Wichita, Oct. 13, 2020. The original Keeper of the Plains is a 44-foot tall sculpture, which was designed by Native American artist Blackbear Bosin in 1974. McConnell Air Force Base is hosting a competition for artists to submit their own Keeper design. The Keeper will be displayed on the installation in early 2021. Lt. Col. Glenn Clark, 905th ARS director of operations and KC-46A Pegasus pilot, performs aerial refueling Oct. 3, 2020, at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. Glenn was co-pilot during the inaugural flight for the 905th ARS. The 905th ARS reactivated at McConnell in May 2019. The 905 ARS was the first Air Force flying unit to be assigned to Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D, and it received its first KC-135 Stratotanker in 1960.
