931st Welcomes Newcomers during April UTA
The 931st Air Refueling Group welcomed nine new members into its ranks. Pictured bottom left to top are Senior Airman Nathan Peacock, Airman First Class Michael Schofield, Tech. Sgt. Nice sleigh, Santa!
Col. Edsel Frye, Commander, 931st Air Refueling Group dons a Santa costume and delivers gifts to little brothers and little sisters from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sedgewick County, at McConnell Air Force Base Dec. 22. The card will be displayed along Kansas Street near the entrance to McConnell Air Force Base. Sergeant Adkins and Sergeant Van Praag and Senior Airman Joshua Koch of the 931st ARG created the card.

GOLDEN WASP
Senior Master Sgt. Pamela Summers, 931st Mission Support Flight, holds the Congressional Gold Medal presented to the members of the Women Air Force Service Pilots for their duty during World War II. Over 1,000 women flew noncombat military missions logging more than 60 million miles in support of the war effort. Their determination to being the best paved the way for women in aviation.

Thunder Hockey
Col. Edsel "Archie" Frye, 931st Air Refueling Group commander, with encouragement from the Wichita Thunder mascot "Thunderdog", drops the ceremonial puck as Amarillo Gorilla center Gordon Bell-left, and Wichita Thunder alternate captain Kevin Cooper prepare to duel for the opening possession betwen the two teams on March 12 . The Air Force Reserve Central Recruiting Squadron recently sponsored multiple events with the Wichita Thunder. The Gorillas revenged a loss from the previous night by defeating the Thunder 6-0.

2009 Airmen of the Year
Two boom operators and a historian were selected as the 931st Air Refueling Group's 2009 Airmen of the Year. Selected were Master Sgt. John "Tex" Austin (center) as Staff Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, Tech. Sgt. Scott Gaitley (on left) as NCO of the Year, and recently-promoted Staff Sgt. Gregery Brashier as Airman of the Year. Sergeant Gaitley is the 931st ARG historian. Sergeant's Austin and Brashier are assigned to the 18th Air Refueling Squadron, the 931st's flying unit.
