C5 Refueling
Maj. Makia Epie, an instructor pilot from the 433rd Airlift Wing pilots a C5A Galaxy toward the boom of a KC-135 Stratotanker during aerial refueling training, May 15. The 18th Air Refueling Squadron and the 931st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron sent aircrew and maintainers to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland to provide aerial refueling to students of the Formal Training Unit. During the week-long business effort the aircrew from the 931st Air Refueling Group provided aeromedical evacuation training support and air refueling support to the 433rd Airlift Wing's various units. Calhoun's New Captains
Troy Calhoun, head football coach at the Air Force Academy, promotes Phil Shapiro and Alecia Fogerty to the rank of Captain during a late-night impromptu ceremony on a flightline in Iraq. Both officers are Air Force C-130 Hercule pilots who flew Calhoun and six other NCAA football coaches to visit troops in Bagdad, Iraq, on June 1. The visit was part of Coaches Tour 2009, a second annual morale-boosting mission organized by Morale Entertainment, LLC., in association with Armed Forces Entertainment. Calhoun had the authority to promote the captains as a former academy graduate and Air Force officer. Capt.
