CES at work
Tech. Sgt. Kevin Toomey, 931st Civil Engineer Squadron, installs a sound dampening ceiling panel in Building 1218 at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., July 11, 2015. The installation is part of a renovation project on the building, during which 931 CES Airmen have installed both the new ceiling panels as well as new floor tiles. CFC 2014 is underway
The 2014 Combined Federal Campaign has kicked off at McConnell. Unlike many other campaigns, the main goal for CFC is not a monetary number; instead CFC is aimed at providing 100 percent face-to-face contact with each member of the unit. Last year the team McConnell raised approximately $85,000 in donations.

Changing bulbs
Dan Kontz replaces lightbulbs in the 931st Air Refueling Group Headquarters building. Kontz performs building and grounds maintenance for the 931st ARG. Kontz has been with the 931st ARG since Sept. 2004 and has been a civilian employee on McConnell, Air Force Base , Kan. since the summer of 2003. Dan’s father, Lt. Col. Keith Kontz, is the 931st ARG Chief of Standardization and Evaluation.

Checking the oil
Airman 1st Class Patrick Monroe, a crew chief assigned to the Air Force Reserve 931st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron adds oil to one of the engines of a KC-135 Stratotanker on the flight line at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., Oct. 22, 2012. The aircraft had just returned from an overseas flight. Along with numerous other tasks, maintainers check the oil in each of the four engines on the Stratotankers after every flight and service the oil levels whenever necessary. Chef Austin
Master Sgt. John "Tex" Austin was busy serving up his "special" hamburgers and hot dogs during the May Unit Training Assembly. After assuming chef duty for a fundraiser to benefit the Air Force Assistance Fund, Sergeant Austin again volunteered for the grill the next day during a going-away barbecue for the 931st's outgoing commander, Col. William T. Cahoon. Besides being a boom operator and boom section noncommissioned officer in charge for the 18th Air Refueling Squadron, he is a building custodian, weapons custodian, enlisted performance review monitor and unit public affairs representative.
