Hitching a ride
Tech. Sgt. Brannen Parrish, NCOIC of Public Affairs at the 931st Air Refueling Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., attaches a reach pendant to a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter in order to perform an external lift of a Humvee during sling load training at Soto Cano Air Base in Honduras Aug. 7. Parrish is currently deployed to Honduras, serving as the NCOIC of Public Affairs at Joint Task Force-Bravo. Honorary Boom Operator
Mr. Dave Wenz learns what it is like to be a boom operator of a KC-135 Stratotanker during an aerial refueling mission in late July 2009. Mr. Wenz is a Special Olympics Board member and the honorary commander of the 931st Civil Engineer Squadron, an Air Force Reserve unit at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. Honorary Commander Flight
A collection of McConnell Air Force Base Honorary Commanders pose with an aircrew from the 18th Air Refueling Squadron, 931st Air Refeuling Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., following an orientation flight. During the flight, the Honorary Commanders were able to observe air refueling training from the refueling boom pod of a KC-135 Stratotanker. The McConnell Air Force Base Honorary Commander program pairs local civic leaders with commanders from both the active duty 22nd Air Refueling Wing and the Reserve 931st Air Refueling Group at McConnell.
