Moving Up, Moving On
Lt. Col. Ted Mathews, 18th Air Refueling Squadron commander, and other members of his squadron ride on a bus to the flightline at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. A ceremony to promote Mathews to colonel is scheduled for Saturday, a few hours before he relinquishes command of the 18th ARS to Lt. Col. Tony Brusca during a change of command ceremony. Multipoint Refueling
Tech. Sgt. James Yokom monitors the mirrors that allow him to see the operations of a Multipoint Refueling System, the configuration that allows fuel to transfer from KC-135 Stratotankers to aircraft not equipped to accept the KC-135 refueling boom. The system uses refueling lines that extend from KC-135 wing tips and is usually used for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aircraft. My wingman teddy
TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Taylor Farve holds her teddy bear as she listens to a briefing before processing through the deployment line. She is the daughter of Staff Sgt. Lawrence Farve from the 963rd Airborne Air Control Squadron, and Staff Sgt. Carnita Farve from the 72nd Air Base Wing here. Taylor and other children of airmen assigned here participated in Operation KUDOS, designed to help "Kids Understand Deployment Operations." They received briefings, processed through a deployment line, received ID cards and dog tags.
