Honorary Commander Flight
A collection of McConnell Air Force Base Honorary Commanders pose with an aircrew from the 18th Air Refueling Squadron, 931st Air Refeuling Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., following an orientation flight. During the flight, the Honorary Commanders were able to observe air refueling training from the refueling boom pod of a KC-135 Stratotanker. The McConnell Air Force Base Honorary Commander program pairs local civic leaders with commanders from both the active duty 22nd Air Refueling Wing and the Reserve 931st Air Refueling Group at McConnell. Firework safety
Scars on the hand of Airman 1st Class Sean Huntley serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of firework safety. The Reservist, now a crew chief assigned to the 931st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 931st Air Refueling Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., severely injured his hand in a firework incident five years ago. Huntley underwent surgery and physical therapy in order to regain full use of the hand. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, an estimated 8,500 people are treated each year for firework related injuries. (Courtesy photo)

Making Progress
Renovation work continues on the interior of the 931st Air Refueling Group headquarters building, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., June 20, 2012. David Vogel, first sergeant, 931st Air Refueling Group, his wife Laura, and the couple's daughers, Tori and Chloe, during the group family day, June 3. The 970th AACS provided an E-3 Sentry static display so 931st Airmen and their families could learn more about other Air Force Reserve units. Spouse Flight
Spouses of 931st Air Refueling Group members prepare to board a KC-135 Stratotanker for a spouse orientation flight, June 2, 2012. Sixteen spouses of Group members participated in the flight. During the flight, the spouses were able to observe the air refueling of an E-3 Sentry airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft. Spouse flights are conducted to provide spouses with a greater understanding of the 931st Air Refueling Group mission and help to promote rentention of Air Force Reserve members.
