  • McConnell Reserve unit meets ‘bosses’

    Ten civilian employers of 931st Air Refueling Wing Airmen received a first-hand look at how their Reservist employee supports strategic reach during a "Bosslift" sponsored by the local Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) here, August 3. According to the official ESGR website, the purpose of ESGR is to educate supervisors and managers of traditional Reservists and develop a greater appreciation for the service of citizen Airmen. The focus of the organization is to promote an understanding of both the National Guard and Reserve as well as encourage support of employers in development of human resource policies and practices that support an employee's participation in the military. ESGR also works to inform and educate employers on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act as well as help foster the willingness of employers to support their employees called to military service for long periods of time and greater frequency.

    For the last two and a half months the Minneapolis-St. Paul Air Reserve Station’s track and field has been overrun by horses, RED HORSEs. Also known as rapid engineer deployable heavy operational repair squadron engineers, RED HORSE Squadrons are fully-armed, self-sufficient civil engineering units capable of performing personnel or weapons systems bed-down, and build or repair facilities and infrastructure.

  • Reserve Citizen Airmen build medical and dental clinic

    Setting aside their normal summer annual training schedule, Airmen from the 931st Civil Engineer Squadron utilized their training and skills to help a small community in Georgia the past two months. Beginning May 20, more than 39 members of the McConnell Reserve CES unit took over as the construction team for the new Valley Healthcare Medical and Dental Clinic for a community of 800 in Georgia.
  • Aircraft evacuations showcase Team McConnell’s teamwork

    Team McConnell aircrews stayed one step ahead of the inclement weather this season and evacuated a total of 8 KC-135 Stratotankers and 3 KC-46 Pegasuses in less than six hours early last month. The order to evacuate the aircraft was given at 9 a.m. By 2 p.m. that same day, all the aircraft had been successfully transferred. The KC-135s went to Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., and March Air Reserve Base, Calif. Though this isn’t the first time Team McConnell has evacuated their aircraft to prevent damage, according to Senior Master Sgt. James Guldjord, 18th Air Refueling Squadron superintendent, it was the first time the process was nearly seamless.
  • 100th ARW takes to the skies for Astral Knight 2019

    Astral Knight 2019, a joint-multinational exercise led by U.S. Air Forces in Europe, aims to demonstrate the defense capabilities of the U.S. integrated air and missile defense system, and will involve a combination of flight operations and computer-assisted scenarios. The exercise’s goal is to enhance the command and control integration, coordination and interoperability of air and land capabilities and overlapping operations into the IAMD enterprise.
